FAQs and What to Expect
WHAT TO EXPECT
YOUR PROPOSAL: Don’t worry, everything is covered. Our estimates include everything — right down to the tax. If a job takes more time or materials, that’s on us. We NEVER ask you to pay more than what you were quoted.
CONFIRMATION: We will call you the day before your installation to confirm our arrival time and answer any questions you have.
PERMITS: Most jobs involving replacement of equipment, adding ductwork, or anything to do with gas lines require a permit. We take care of it for you, and help you through the inspection process.
INSTALLATION DAY: Your installation technician(s) typically arrive(s) between 8-9 a.m. with your new equipment. They will prepare your home for installation before they start. We cover all traffic areas with protective runners, cover carpeted areas with plastic, and protect door frames to make absolutely sure we leave your home in the same condition as when we arrived.
THE INSTALL: An average installation takes 8-12 hours start to finish. Different jobs require different tasks, but your Apex sales professional will provide you with all the details.
THE CLEAN UP & FINISH: We will thoroughly clean our work and traffic areas, and perform start-up procedures and adjustments to make sure your system is operating at maximum efficiency. Your technician will then introduce you to your new system. At the conclusion of your installation, you will receive all of your final paperwork including a final invoice, warranty registration and rebate forms. We even address and stamp the rebate envelope for you, so it only needs your signature!
AT THE OFFICE: We record your model and serial numbers and register your warranties to make service in the future faster and more efficient. We also complete your rebate paperwork for you, so you don’t have to.
CHECK IN: After about two weeks, we follow up with a phone call. We want to make sure you are happy with your new system and will answer any additional questions you have. If at that time, there are any additional concerns about the operation of your equipment, or familiarity with the controls, just let us know. We’ll be happy to perform a complimentary follow-up visit to help you become more comfortable.
MAINTENANCE: Maintenance keeps your new system running efficiently. Apex Protection Plans are a great way of staying on top of your service; we even call you when it’s time for your tune ups—no remembering necessary!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you give free estimates?
A: Yes! We provide free estimates for replacement equipment, add-on accessories, ductwork additions, and many other projects. Service calls will be subject to a diagnostic fee.
Q: How long does an estimate take?
A: Designing your perfect HVAC system takes a little time and a lot of conversation. Plan on meeting with our sales rep for about an hour to an hour-and-a-half. This gives him time to familiarize himself with your wants and needs. Having ample time to adequately assess the building and answer any questions is key in making the estimate process run smoothly.
Q: How long should a furnace & AC system last?
A: A properly installed system should last around 20-25 years. The durability of the system depends on several main factors: Proper design, sizing, equipment selection, annual professional maintenance, operating environment and, most importantly, quality of installation. A properly designed, installed and maintained system should be the last one you’ll ever buy.
Q: What does NATE Certified mean?
A: NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence. This certification represents real working knowledge of HVAC systems and allows a technician to be certified in specific areas.
Q: How often should I change my filter?
A: A 1” filter should be changed monthly. A 4-5” filter should be changed every 3-6 months. There are some high efficiency filters that last as long as 12 months! Ask your Apex technician if you have any questions regarding your specific filter replacement.
